Welcome

Lerwick harbour & town at the turn of the 20th century

Douglas Sinclair is a recognised local historian with his main interest being Lerwick, his home town. He works as a tourist guide, specialising in guided walks of Old Lerwick, and is a Regional Affiliate Member of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association.

As a boy Douglas played in the lodberries, closses and courtyards of Old Lerwick and was familiar with smugglers' tunnels and explored many of the ancient buildings, now demolished.

You will not be disappointed if you join Douglas on one of his walks as you will not find anyone better equipped to bring Old Lerwick to life with his wealth of knowledge. His childhood memories and personal experience, interwoven with historical facts and stories, will leave you spellbound and his pleasant easy going manner, sprinkled with good humour, will ensure that you have a very enjoyable experience.
